This May, I had the honour of being on the Selecting Committee for the Concorso d'eleganza Villa d'Este. One of the most unforgettable events in the classic car calendar, and one that I have attended for many years, being on the Selecting Committee made 2017 particularly special for me.
The Concorso focuses on the best and most beautiful and perfectly preserved cars from all of the world, in wonderous setting of The Grand Hotel Villa d'Este on the shores of Lake Como. Some fifty historic motors built between the '20s and '80s were selected and organised into different categories by myself and others on the esteemed panel of experts, led by President Lorenza Ramaciotti.
An amazing and memorable experience!
Here I am in my best frock and the 1932 ALFA ROMEO 6C 1750 GRAN TURISMO - which won the Trofeo BMW Group Raggazi (as voted for by the Young People’s Referendum at Villa Erba)
Here I am again in a rather wonky photo that my mother took! This time standing next to a 1930 DUESENBERG J CONVERTIBLE BERLINE. This won Class B 'Travelling in Style'.
Here I am, inspecting all the wonderful cars. And I'm smiling ;-)
